The event was held at Palau National Swimming Pool, where CNMI’s Rezne Wong and Kensuke Kimura earned their positions as the top two in the men’s 200 sc meter individual medley.
Kailan Staal won first place, finishing 1:04.16 in the men’s 100 sc meter backstroke, followed by Kensuke Kimura, who reached second place.
Staal managed to win first in the 200 sc meter freestyle event, and second place in the 200 sc meter breaststroke.
Wong finished first with 1:01.48 in the men’s 100 meter butterfly and 2:23:77 in the 200 sc meter breaststroke.
After winning top two in his first two events, Kensuke Kimura also managed to follow through his victories with a bronze in the 100 meter butterfly. His brother, Shin Kimura, reached second place in the men’s 200 sc meter freestyle competition.
Meanwhile, Grace Kimball earned recognition for the CNMI swim team in the women’s division, winning second place in the women’s 200 sc meter individual medley and first place in the 200 sc meter freestyle event.
As a group, Kensuke Kimura, Shin Kimura, Wong, and Staal all finished first in the men’s 200 meter medley relay and 800 sc meter freestyle relay, followed by the Republic of the Marshall Islands, who trailed into second.
Baseball / Basketball /Tennis
At 12 pm last Monday, the CNMI baseball team conquered Pohnpei, scoring 12-1 throughout the game. They came short in their following game, losing 0-6 against Kosrae.
The CNMI basketball team lost to Palau last Monday at Palau National Gymnasium, scoring 64-47.
The CNMI women’s division earned a gold medal last Monday at Airai Tennis Court, defeating Guam by 2-1. Kana Aikawa and Mayuko Arriola both won in the singles, while Guam gained victory in the doubles event.
