THE Padres notched their first win in 2025 Saipan Baseball League on Friday after outlasting the Phillies, 19-13, at the Francisco “Tan Ko” Palacios Baseball Field.

The game began evenly, with both teams matching each other play for play in the first two innings.

The first inning was highlighted by defensive performances with Padres pitcher Franco Flores collecting two strikeouts. However, the Phillies’ TJ Sablan managed to slip in one run for an RBI single.

In the bottom half, the Padres equalized with a solo run led by Darion Jones’ RBI double before the Phillies caught three flyouts for the first deadlock of the game, 1-1.

The action intensified as both teams built momentum throughout the second inning.

The Phillies picked their shots carefully, drawing walks to advance runners and spark a five-run rally, highlighted by Thomas Reyes’ two-RBI double. The Padres responded with four runs of their own, led by Arby Yaguel’s two-RBI single, to stay close behind at 6–5.

After a scoreless third inning, momentum swung in favor of the Padres.

The Phillies came up empty in the fourth inning, while the Padres notched six runs — threeof them off errors — to seize the upper hand, 11-6.

The Phillies regained their rhythm in the top of the fifth, scoring three runs, but the Padres continued to flourish with six more — highlighted by two separate two-RBI singles from MJ Aldan and Jones — to widen the gap to 17–9.

The Phillies tried to close the gap with three more runs in the top of the sixth, but the Padres responded with two of their own to maintain a comfortable lead.

With the Phillies managing just one run in the top of the seventh and final inning, the Padres secured the 19-13 victory.
