Pare Pack shortstop Verlance Secharmidal throws to first base for the pick off during a game against the AB Team in the 2024 Budweiser Belau Amateur Softball Association Open League at the Dandan baseball field on Sunday.
PARE Pack bagged their first win in the 2024 Budweiser Belau Amateur Softball Association League by dominating the AB Team, 15-4, in just four innings at the Dandan baseball field on Sunday.
The AB Team started with a swing and a miss and were handed three straight outs with first at bat, Mac Scaliem, left on base.
In the bottom of the opening inning, Pare Pack nearly suffered the same fate as its first two batters were picked off. But the team kept their cool and eventually recovered with a three-run homer courtesy of Ze Lizama, followed by a solo homer by Jeremy Lizama and an RBI double by Mingko Taimanao to gain a double-digit lead, 10-0.
Facing an early defeat via the 10-run rule, the AB Team broke the silence in the top of the third inning. Instead of swinging for the fences, they decided to slow down the pace of the game, and make do with walks to quickly load the bases. They were handed two consecutive outs, but Greg Sablan hit the ball way out of the field, recording their first grand slam of the season, and closing the distance, 4-10.
Pare Pack responded with a series of homeruns. Jose Kumoi led the onslaught with a three-run homer while Se Lizama and Jon Tydingco added a pair of solo homers to stretch the gap once again, 15-4.
The AB Team held their ground and allowed no additional runs to slip by, but they failed to build enough momentum in the next two innings and was forced to settle for an early defeat in the bottom of the fifth inning, 4-15.
Also clinching their first win was Bat Dat Ass Up, which edged the Blue Jays, 12-11, while the Brotherhood notched their second win by outlasting Wazzup, 19-18.
