After a successful stint of the first badminton tournament dubbed as “Surangel’s Cup” last year, the Palau Badminton Association’s tournament organizers, officers, and lovers of the sport have put up another exciting competition that will begin at a time of 6 in the evening on the 26th of September, Saturday at the Palau High School Spiders Gymnasium, in front of the Rock Island Café.
Pegged at $5.00 per player, registrations are already being accepted since the 17th of September and will continue as deadline for submission of will be on the tournament day, September 26. Forms are available at the gym.The competitions will be divided into 3 categories namely, Mixed doubles, Women’s Double and Men’s Doubles. All games will be held at Palau High School Spider Gym every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday from 6pm to 9pm. This tournament is open to everyone and the event’s objective is to promote Badminton to the Republic and discover potential and competitive players and to develop the basic skills in the said sport.October 30, 2009 will mark the first year anniversary of Palau Badminton Association. It was started first by certain individuals at the track and field who find the sports as a fitness regime and family activity. Last year, PBA was issued the Non-profit Corporate Charter to maximize the promotion of the sport to the Republic of Palau. And now the club has more than a hundred members playing regularly at Palau High school Gym every Tuesday, Thursday and Saturday nights.
