Peleliu, Salty Boys retain slots in Belau Masters

Starting pitcher Leo Bobai led off a single and short stop Poland Masaharu followed suit in the first inning before Paul Ogumoro drove them in with a single to set the lead.

Left fielder, Manny Cabrera caught seven fly balls and Masaharu carried out a smothering in-field defense to keep the Rubaks scoreless in five straight innings.

Darwin Masaharu dashed to the first base in a fielder’s choice then, Dave Kapileo knocked in an RBI double.

Ogumoro led off a single in the fourth, Kenty moved him to scoring spot with a single as well, then, Bernie Keleleman hit a run-scoring single. Cabrera drove Kenty in with a sacrifice fly to make Peleliu stronger as move to the next round.

Masaharu singled and Ogumoro fired his third base hit before Kenty drove them in with a double.

With Theo Minor, Roland Tangelbad and Reno Celis firing an RBI single apiece, the Rubaks rallied in the sixth.

Cabrera however, was in the right spot again as caught Rufino Aguon’s fly ball to cut the Rubaks short of tying the game in the sixth inning.

Salty Boys 9, IT&E 8

It took the Salty Boys two run-scoring base hits, a fielder’s choice run and the third fly ball in the field to beat IT&E by one run to retain its second spot in the season.

The Salty Boys only had one run in four straight innings from John Andres’ single to stay behind, while IT&E had two run-scoring base hits in the bottom of the first inning to take the lead.

Gene Weaver and Tom Diaz hit an RBI single apiece and Pepi Tenorio scored a run on an error.

Weaver fired his second run-scoring base hit—a single to strengthen this lead in the third.

Luis Ngiraikelau singled, Vic Ducor scored a run on an error in the top of the fifth inning. Highness Asanuma singled and John Kentaro moved to first base in short stop’s error before Alex Sakisat connected a two-run double as the Salty Boys rallied in this inning.

Then, they held IT&E scoreless in bottom of the fifth, and in the bottom of the sixth, giving themselves the chance to bounce back in the seventh where they clobbered IT&E with five base hits.

Sakisat, Fulk Haruo both hit an RBI single while Bob Kumaichi drove in a run on a fielder’s choice to help the Salty Boys come back in the top of the seventh inning.

IT&E were aiming to regain their lead but Weavers’ fly ball gave them away.

Lancheros 10, Sufa 4

Bill Aguon hit solo shot in the third inning while George Castro and John Tomokane went 3-for-4 leading the Lancheros beat Sufa.

After Aguon’s homer tied the ball game in the bottom of the third, the Lancheros tightened the defense holding Sufa scoreless in the top of the fourth.

Castro singled and Jack Reyes drove him in with a sacrifice fly to take the lead in the bottom of the fourth.

With Donald Crisostimo and Reyes knocking in an RBI single apiece, the Lancheros rallied in the fifth and won the game.
