Peleliu wins softball championship

The Sufa and Pelelius’ fought for the championship in their ‘two out of three’ finals match, with the Pelelius winning two consecutive games.

Following the finals last Sunday was an awards ceremony hosted by the Belau Amateur Softball Association.

Team Peleliu’s members were also declared the Pennant Champions, with Peleliu’s Norman Mobel winning the Manager of the Year award and Poland Masaharu claiming his title as the Homerun Champion.

Team Sufa’s Tony Magofna was declared Coach of the Year, while his team came next to the Pelelius as the Runner-Up Champions.

David Kapileo earned the top spot in the MVP Championship series, making six successful runs in the ‘run-batted-innings’ category.

Following Kapileo in the ceremony was team Rubaks, who was awarded the Joe Milong Sportsmanship Award.

A total of seven teams competed in the beginning of the season. According to BASA committee members, the season was played longer than their normal schedule due to on-going rain from the previous weeks.
