(PIC) — On April 6, 2024, Pacific Islands Club Saipan will host PIC Saipan Hafa Adai 5K Color Fun Run.
This no-time-everyone-wins fun run aims to raise funds for this year’s beneficiary, the Saipan Humane Society, a non-profit organization founded in response to animal overpopulation and the need for veterinary services in the CNMI.
According to PIC Sports, Entertainment, and Activities Director Dennis Tababa, “PIC has seen its fair share of stray cats and dogs on its property, and this can be a safety issue for our guests and employees. With the help of Saipan Humane Society, we can humanely catch and relocate stray animals.”
PIC Safety Manager Mark Caacbay said “it is important that we support organizations like Saipan Humane Society to reduce the likelihood of stray animals to cause accidents involving community members and visitors to our islands, directly or indirectly.”
Reymark Castro, PIC sports, entertainment and activities manager, said “PIC Hafa Adai 5k has new and improved surprises this year! We continue to adjust every year after listening to you, CNMI! We promise to give you guys an amazing experience every time you say PIC.”
He added, “Saipan Humane Society is one of the few organizations that we can run to when we need help with our furry friends. It is only just that we try and help them back in any way we can.”
The race will start and finish at PIC Saipan and will feature five different coloring stations with about 600 lbs of color powder along the Beach Road route. Participants are encouraged to wear white so the full effect of the coloring stations can be seen post-race. Volunteers will celebrate each runner’s arrival by greeting them with “holi powder,” a biodegradable mixture of corn starch and food coloring.
PIC is inviting the entire community to participate. The race fee is just $12 and the first 1,000 entries will receive a commemorative event T-shirt.
For this one-of-a-kind event, PIC is expecting 2000 runners plus spectators. Post-race, PIC will be raffling more than $5,000 worth of prizes, which include PIC waterpark passes, Magellan lunches and brunches along with room stays and memberships to PIC Saipan.
