The season will include varsity and junior varsity games, with the JV teams consisting of 7th and 8th graders and the varsity teams consisting of students from grades 9 to 12.
Private schools officially participating in the season include Calvary Christian Academy, Grace Christian Academy, Marianas Baptist Academy, Mt. Carmel School, Saipan Community School, Saipan International School Teams A and B, Seventh Day Adventist School, and Whispering Palms School.
MBA and MCS’ JV and varsity teams started off with their games at MBA, while GCA and SISA started theirs at GCA.
Other schools that played their first volleyball games yesterday included CCA, SDA, SCS, and SISB.
A junior varsity game is scheduled today between MCS and WPS, which will be played at MCS’ volleyball court.
Other matches will follow on Thursday and Friday, and all games will start at 3:30 pm according to season rules.
The NMI Volleyball Association’s website also noted that member schools will be expecting regular seasons to be played up to mid-October, with playoffs scheduled for the end of October. “The first coaches’ meeting determined that the season would consist of 1-2 co-ed, mixed grade level teams from each school.” Questions regarding the private schools’ volleyball season may be emailed to [email protected].
