Proa, Mauleg win games

SSA) – NMC Proa and Team Mauleg, both contending for the pennant title each won their respective games last Wednesday in the Saipan Softball Association Men’s Fastpitch League. Mauleg with just a game left and the Proa with two will meet each other one last time before the commencement of the play-off should they both win their remaining games for the pennant title.

In the first game of the evening, the Proas scored in only two innings but was more than enought scoring three in the bottom of the second, and four in the sixth for a, 7-2, victory over the D-9er’s. The D-9er’s got on the scoreboard first with a run in the top of the second on Gerald Guerrero’s RBI single, but the Proa with an help of a D-9er’s costly error then took the lead for good scoring three runs in their half of the second and four more in the sixth led by Ned Norita’s solo home run. Tony Satur came in relieve to pitch the last two innings giving up just one hit with two strike-outs. Jess Castro took the win for the Proas allowing just two runs in five innings.

The second game of the evening was a different story as Team Mauleg stopped the Sunrisers in five innings, 13-1, for a ten-run rule shut-out. Mel Sakisat went 4 for 4 and was credited with an inside-the-park home run and older brother Manny Camacho present himself with a birthday gift going 2 for 2 with a two-run homer to lead Mauleg.

Mauleg jumped on top, 8-0, after 2 1/2 innings of play before the Sunrisers then got on the scoreboard when Andy Roberto, the teams active statistician showed his boys the art of the game reaching base on a lead-off single and scored on Dennis Ngeskebei’s sacrifice for the Sunrisers only run of the game. With the win, Mauleg improved to, 17-3, and dropped the Sunrisers to, 4-14.
