“I’ve decided to cancel the tennis tourney due to the unfortunate weather,” said tournament director and PIC sports manager Dennis Tababa in an email to Marianas Variety.
Games will resume this Friday, April 8, and end on Sunday, April 9. Time of scheduled games has not changed, however.
The juniors division will include mix 3.0, boys 15-and-under and 12U, and girls 15U and 12U categories.
The singles division consists of men’s open, 4.0, and 3.0 and women’s open and 3.0 categories.
Rafael Jones bagged the boys 18U singles title last week Sunday. Christian Miller and Colin Ramsey took the boys 15U and 12U titles, respectively.
Thea Minor dominated the girls 18U division, and Chloe Gadsden edged Mikayla Lopez for the girls 15U title. Tammy Ackerman defeated Emily Jones, 8-0 in the girls 12U finals.
In the doubles bracket’s men’s open finals, Jeff Race and Peter Loyola downed Peter Loken and Lope Padilla, 6-4, 4-6, and 6-3. Amami Sakano and Tommy Choi won the men’s 4.0 title over Eli Buenaventura and Roy Pangelinan. Carl Dela Cruz and Ernie Henzon triumphed in the men’s 3.0 doubles finals, beating Phil Kalen and Joe Quitugua. The women’s open doubles champions are Minor and Gadsden. Ackerman and Joy Minor topped the women’s 3.0 doubles division.
