Reds rout Spartans in three innings

THE Reds returned from the holiday break as relentless as ever, trouncing the Spartans in just three innings, 21-1, in the 2023 SBL Masters League at the Francisco “Tan Ko” Palacios Baseball Field on Wednesday.

The Reds found their groove in the top of the opening inning as they were able to fully rotate their lineup. Due to wild pitches paired with errors and stolen bases, the scoreboard continuously lit up with runs led by Dennis Cruz, Jason Reyes and Mike Techur who hit an RBI each to give the Reds a 5-0 lead.

The Spartans did have an answer with Mike Guerrero contributing an RBI single, but that would be their one and only run of the night.

The Reds, for their part, scored eight more runs in the top of the second inning that was highlighted by Henry Reyes’s two-RBI single and Mike Techur’s two-RBI triple.

The bombardment continued in the third inning with eight additional runs as Hector Efren and Reyes each hit a two-RBI double to further extend the deficit.

The Spartans had one more chance to stay in the game with two runners on base, but the Reds slammed the door shut with three strikeouts to seal the victory, 21-1.
