THE Northern Mariana Islands Basketball Federation will hold a pre-tryout meeting this Saturday in the Ada gym conference room for anyone who wants to be part of the  senior national program, which will select the players who will compete in the 2024 Micronesian Games on June 15-24 in the Marshall Islands.

The meeting starts at 9 a.m. for the women’s division, followed by the  meeting for the men’s division at 10 a.m. The time for tryouts as well as other details such as eligibility and requirements will be discussed during the meetings.

Tryouts for the men’s and women’s national teams will be held on Jan. 9-13. The top 20 or 15 players will be selected after the tryouts.

A two-and-a-half pre-season training will  be held from Jan. 16 to March 31 focused on team plays along with conditioning and skills. A roster of 12 or 15 players will be announced on March 2.

Then, on April 4-7, the players will see action in the University of Guam Friendship Tournament, which will be followed by a three-month on-season training phase from April 8 to June 14.

During the on-season training, the Michelob Ultra Cup basketball league will be held beginning April 15.

 The NMI teams will have total of five months to prepare for the Micronesian games.
