Teregeyo scored — in addition to volley and rally one point court scores — five two-point serves (xunks and aces), two two-point back court spikes (kees), a three-point goal, and a front line knock down serve called a jam. Tyce Mister of the Teachers scored the most jams this season.
In Rocball, the receiving team has only two hits to return a served ball. Therefore, the front line players are a team’s first line of defense. Unlike volleyball, Rocball players can spike down a served ball.
However, it is a play in which a person needs to recognize the opportunity, move fast enough to intercept a low serve, and spike it to the opponents’ court untouched.
Mister scored two jams in one game.
Players tied for the most two-point serves at five each (aces and xunks) are Aim Low’s Riden Fiden, Give-a-Hoot’s Damart Teregeyo, Roc It’s Ben Olopai, and Teachers’ John Nekaifes.
Nekaifes’ teammate, Nick Gross, scored the most backcourt two-point plays with seven kees.
The team that scored the most goals is Lay Low with three goals from two games.
In last week’s games, the Teachers defeated Balls of Fury (38-12), the Geeks won over G-Spark (30-17), Aim Low outplayed team Alpha Q (37-13), Roc It overcame Just-do-It (37-29), Give-a-Hoot outscored Lay Low (36-18), and Dream Team outlasted Balls of Fury (29-24).
So far, two rounds (12 games) have been completed in this season’s round robin competition. The season has 58 games to go before the semifinal round.
