In addition to their ongoing Christmas tournament, the Rollers are making plans for their upcoming 16-and-under and 18U New Year Basketball Tournament for January.
“We’re still setting it up, but we’re not sure exactly when it will start yet,” said Diaz.
The club is currently searching for sponsors to help with its New Year tournament. Without support, entry fees may increase from $50 to $100.
The Rollers will also start raising funds for a tournament sponsored by Coca Cola in Anaheim, California on 2012. They will launch a ‘Cupid Fun Run’ in February, followed by a 21U basketball tournament and 12U and 14U competitions in March.
By April, the Rollers will prepare for an even bigger gathering – an Easter invitational tournament joined by Guam’s MTM Falcons, Typhoons, Inarajan Hawks, and Dededo Dragons.
“We are also trying to get teams to represent Tinian and Rota,” added Diaz.
They will then head to Guam for a summer bash tournament. The club sent 61 of its players there last month to compete in the 2010 TakeCare Hoopfest competition, where they entered in the 12U, 14U, 16U, 18U, and 21U categories.
Christmas tourney continues today The Rollers Basketball Club’s 2010 IT&E Christmas Basketball Tournament will continue today said Joe Diaz, and will follow a revised schedule.
All games were originally set for Garapan Basketball Court but were pushed to Ada gym due to bad weather.
“Due to circumstances, the club apologizes to all parents and coaches for the confusion,” said Diaz.
The Rollers will complete most of its 12U and 15U games today. Championship for both divisions will take place tomorrow.
