Nick Sablan scored a net of 68 during the RGA qualifying tournament that was held in conjunction with the Tournament of the Champions last Aug 2 and 3.
Luis Byun actually earned the lowest net of 66 but since he is already the RGA January Ace of the Month, Sablan who fired 3-over par 75 had the next best putt to win the qualifier.
If nobody beats his net on Saturday he will be the RGA August Ace of the Month, joining the seven other Aces who will compete in the Club Championship in December.
The other RGA’s Aces of the Month are Luis Byun who netted 66 for the month of January; Asterio Tawanpiy, 65 for February; Jess Wabol 67, for March; Dick Pierce 62, for April; Joe Demapan 65 for May, Jordan Kosam 64 for June and Manny Mangarero, 64 for July.
Mangarero is among the new members of RGA.
Meanwhile, the qualifying tournament for September Ace of the Month is scheduled on Aug. 30, and the September Ace tournament on Sept. 13 both at the King Fisher Golf Resort.
The October qualifier will be held on Sept. 27 and the October Ace on Oct. 11 at the Coral Ocean Point.
The November qualifier will be on Oct. 25 and November Ace tournament will be on Nov. 8 at the Marianas Country Club. The December qualifier will be held on the same date, and the December Ace tournament will be on Nov. 22 at the Coral Ocean Point.
The RGA Championship where all the monthly Aces will compete on Dec. 6.
Jess I. Wabol is reminding all the monthly Aces that they are required to participate in at least six RGA-sanctioned events in order to qualify for the championship.
The check in time for Aug Ace tournament this Saturday will be 11 a.m., and the teen time, 12 noon.
