That could have happened and brought Natibu into equal putting with Man Amigos, had it not been to BJ Sablan’s two-run home run that gave them the slim lead in the bottom of the fifth.
And with left fielder JR Suel and center fielder Dave Kapileo catching fly balls in the top of the seventh, Natibu held on to their one-run advantage and secured the 13th regular season win.
Ken Kalen who trails in this season’s batting leaders’ list with an average of .615 (24 hits out of 39 at-bats) and hitting a total of 13 RBIs, led Natibu in the bottom of the first inning with a solo home run.
Bruce Norita knocked-in a three RBI double while Ned Norita and Pete Tegeita drove-in runs with sacrifice fly apiece.
Red Eye was able to trim the lead down to four in the top of the third inning with base hitter, Jose “Ping” Santos firing a run-scoring double.
Kapileo and Sato Manalo singled in the bottom of the fifth before Sablan’s two-run shot stretched the lead again.
Red Eye surged in the top of the sixth with Luis Arriola leading off a walk, Noki Torres and Tom Pangelinan hitting single apiece and Santos knocking-in his second double.
Calikano Falcons 9,Blazers 8
Keoni Pua tied the ball game with an RBI single in the bottom of the seventh inning before scoring a run on a fielder’s choice at Drew Magofna to help the Calikano Falcons beat the Blazers.
The Falcons were down by five runs in the bottom of the third inning when Nunu Kapileo cut the Blazers lead with a sacrifice fly.
Boy Cabrera sprinted to the home plate on a catching error to add one run.
The Falcons’ fielders and pitcher, Navan Falig protected the ground and held the Blazers scoreless in three straight innings.
After Pua take the lead, the Falcons continued to tighten the defense in the top of the seventh with outfielder, Ryan Mizutani, left fielder, Jun Tenorio and second baseman, Darren Pua catching fly balls and ended the Blazers hope to come back.
