Sae Hee Kim rules CWGA’s annual golf tourney

SAE Hee Kim is the 2024 season champion of the CNMI Women’s Golf Association, earning the highest annual points as well as the best gross and net scores during the 18th annual two-day tournament, held on April 12 at Kingfisher Golf Links and April 13 at Laolao Bay Golf & Resort.

On day 1, Kim was unmatched as she cleared the front and back nines with gross scores of 39 and 41 for a gross total of 80. Sporting a handicap of 6, she notched a net score of 74.

On day 2, Kim slightly tweaked her swing. She shot a gross of 37 on the front nine and 42 on the back nine for a gross total of 79. With a handicap of 11 this time, she obtained a net score of 68.

Her overall performance not only secured her first place, but also earned her the gross and net score titles with a two-day total of 159 and 142.

Placing second and third in the gross category were Yuko Togawa with 166 and Clara Eue Ae Chang with 185. In the net category, Clara Eue Ae Chang with 147 and Terry Guerrero with 147 finished second and third.

Kim likewise clinched first place in the annual ranking system. Despite missing two of the 12 tournaments held by CWGA throughout the 2024 season, she still led the competition with a total of 119 points.

Dolores Yamagishi came in second with 113 total points.  In third, fourth and fifth places were Clara Eue Ae Chang with 106 points, Yuko Togawa with 94, and Lorraine Babauta with 94.

“We are so grateful to everyone who always support us during our tournaments,” said CWGA President Yuko Togawa. “Although the number of golf members is decreasing, this new season marks our 19th year, and we have been able to continue the CWGA thanks to your support. Motivated participants are always welcome,” she added.

A total of 15 ladies joined the 2024 season.
