Sai Pals are still champions

Both teams played evenly during their second match of the day, with the Pelelius holding a ‘twice to beat’ advantage. The Pelelius and Sai Pals had to complete nine innings after both teams tied at 10-10. The Sai Pals were claimed victors after completing eight runs while the Pelelius only made one.

The Pelelius and Sai Pals also had a close call during their first game, where both teams played a very tight defense in their first couple innings. Sai Pal gained the lead in the middle of the match, scoring 3-1 against their opponents.

The Pelelius had a chance to land a grand slam, but were struck out. They managed to tie the game at 3-3 however, putting more pressure on the Sai Pals.

The Sai Pals left their opponents in the dust after scoring three more runs at the top of the sixth inning. While the Pelelius earned their fourth run, the Sai Pals also collected an extra point, keeping them in the lead by 7-4.

Unfortunately for the Pelelius, they were struck out in the final inning before they could bring the game to a deadlock.

Before challenging the Pelelius, the Sai Pals had to confront the Asahis first, whom they dominated by 12-5. The Sai Pals easily earned eight runs after the first two innings, and gained four more in the seventh.

According to PCA president Rufino Aguon, the Sai Pals will be recognized this Saturday, Oct. 2, during the 16th Palau Independence Day celebration at the Carolinian Utt.

“I want to thank all the teams that participated and especially the fans that came out to watch and cheered for their team. A very big thank you to Docomo Pacific for their sponsorship,” said Aguon.
