VICTOR Nash Santos and Akiko Miller topped their respective divisions of Run Saipan’s Saipan International Airport Trail Run on Sunday.
The fourth annual 8K race featured participants running through the scenic Runways 06/07 and 24/25, along a newly added perimeter fence line.
Santos finished first in the open division with a time of 32:45. In second place was Takeru Jim with a time of 35:25 followed by Jordan Ruiz at 37:38.
The female division was ruled by Akiko Miller, who crossed the finish line with a time of 38:12 followed by Addalee Taflinger at 41:34, and Angela Taflinger at 46:17.
Age division winners
In the U18 age group, Victory Neil Santos led the male division with a time of 40:25 while Catherine Pan topped the female division at 52:31.
Arvin Velasco ruled the 19-34 age group male division with a time of 45:01 while Lei Tenorio finished first in the female division at 01:09:03.
The 35-39 age group female division winner was Soledad Tenorio with a time of 53:29.
The 40-44 age group male division was led by Adam Walsh who clocked 39:01 while Pamela Walsh was numero uno in the female division at 53:17.
The 45-49 age group male division was led by Yun Long who clocked while Sheila Isla topped the female division at 01:03:03.
The 50-54 age group male division was led by Karpov Vasily with a time of 45:33 while An Bang led the female division at 48:15.
In the 60-64 age group male division, Floro Derexes clocked 01:11:03 while Paul Khang led the 65+ age group male division at 51:30
As for the 1.6K kids course, Evan Poole came out on top of the boys division with a time of 7:32 followed by Koen Poole at 8:29 and Andrew Khang at 12:57. In the girls division, Kaylen Taflinger finished first at 7:36 followed by Victoria George at 10:11.
Appreciation
Run Saipan President Edward Dela Cruz Jr. thanked the runners “who came out to start the year off with Run Saipan, the premier running club in the NMI.”
He also thanked “our support staff and volunteers, the Department of Public Safety, Marianas Variety, NMI News Service, Marianas Press, MHS National Honor Society, MHS Run Club. A large thank you to the Commonwealth Ports Authority for hosting the race course and providing admin volunteers, airport police and aircraft rescue medics for our running community. Community partners is how these events get done.”
Dela Cruz is looking forward to “see everyone next month for the three-day, back-to-back running event, Run Saipan Trinity.”
