The event will run from August 28th, 2011 through September 12th, 2011. “The length of the course will be the same as the Micro Games, which was a sprint distance or half of an Olympic tri.” said Russ Quinn.
All interested participants must have lived in the Commonwealth of the Northern Marianas Islands for at least 5 years and must be a United States passport holder. Individuals will also be responsible for expenses (airfare, perdium and other expenses) approximately $2,000 per athlete.
“If we are going to send a representative team from the CNMI, I need to know if there is interest. We are already behind the ball on this, so I need to know before Friday.” added Quinn.
The payments/installments had already begun for all interested participants in their respective sports federations since January of this year.
From now until April, each participant must pay $360 for the cost of the trip. The Northern Marianas Amateur Sports Association estimated the total cost per athlete at $2,200.
Good news is each participant will only pay $1,800 because NMASA will pay the $400 to complete the full payment of the trip. The cost per athlete could still go down if NMASA will acquire help from the government.
