The December Ace in con junction with the Turkey Shoot will kick off with a bang this Sunday, November 14, 2010 at the Kingfisher Golf Links at 10:30 a.m. tee time/show time is scheduled for 9:30 am sharp.
Players must be present and must play to get a Turkey. The SGA’s Thanksgiving Banquet is on November 19th, Friday, at 6 p.m. at the Pacific Islands Club’s Charles Cabaret.
All year long the Saipan Golfer’s Association has been hosting one golf game a month to determine the best of the best. As the final month rolls in, the much awaited final competition for Ace of the year is much anticipated.
Last month, the Saipan Golfers Association treated themselves to a round of golf at the Coral Ocean Point (COP) on October 31, 2010, where they competed for the November Ace at 10:30 a.m.
A total of seventeen (17) committed golfers surpassed the heavy rains early in the game. Although completely soaked, fifteen were able to complete the tournament.
SGA’s October Ace, Ray San Nicolas, and Ed Manibusan out drove the SGA Golfers at holes #6 and 18, securing the Longest Drive awards as well as catching a birdie whilst competitor Nick Sablan netted three; Manibusan had a 4-way tie for third with Joe and Nick Sablan as well as a one Closest to the Pin award.
Joe Demapan bagged two Closest-to-the-Pins (KPs), while Frances Sablan and Martin Sablan won a pence each; Nick Sablan caught three.
At the end of the day, three golfers were recognized for having the lowest net score: Martin Sablan, DPW Secretary, and shot a 69 placing him 1st followed by Frances Sablan CEC Chairwoman & SGA Secretary, shot a 71; Sablan, automatically became the November Ace, because Martin was already an Ace for the month of August 2010. And last but not least Ed Manibusan retired Presiding Judge, tailed Sablan shooting an even par at 72.
The lone star female golfer, Frances Sablan, is now ranked with the other 2010 SGA Aces, in preparing for the Ace of Aces Tournament scheduled on November 27 & 28, 2010 at the Coral Ocean Point.
The 2010 SGA Aces are Vince Rosario (January), Edward Sablan (February), Mariano Fajardo (March), Larry Deleon Guerrero (April), Steve Jang (May), Jung Teack (June), Jose Sablan (July), Martin Sablan (August), Steve Balakrishna (September), and Ray San Nicolas (October).
