The Geckos, coming from SIS Team A, bagged the game in the second set. They defeated MBA by 25-22 in the first set, and 25-18 in the second.
The Stormz played a better offense in the latter half of the match, with MBA keeping its key players on the court.
To MBA’s surprise, Team SIS easily returned spikes from Charlie Jo and Sidney Quan.
Jo struck out of bound spikes at first, but later earned kills for his team. The Stormz stayed close to their foes, tying the game at 18-18 in the second set.
SIS’ Tae Han Yoon joined Zoe Jewell, Josh Borja, and Clay McCullough on the court, keeping their defense strong from MBA’s constant spikes.
Changing their positions, Yoon teams up with Borja at the front while Jewell defends in the back row with Celine Camacho.
Steady sets from Jewell kept the team steady, while Yoon and McCullough pummeled the Stormz with overhand serves.
Earlier in the playoffs, SIS faced Calvary Christian Academy before getting through MBA. They are set to play against Grace Christian Academy in today’s championship round.
