SIS, SVES clinch gold in long jump, softball throw

SAIPAN International School and San Vicente Elementary School were among the gold medalists in the field events at the two-day elementary division championships of the PSS-McDonald’s All School Track and Field SY 2024–2025 at the Oleai Sports Complex on Friday and Saturday.

In the long jump event, the girls 9U age group was led by SIS’ Eleanor Anderson who covered an impressive distance of 3.14m to claim gold while SIS’ Miriam Flores (2.92m) settled for silver and Agape Christian School’s Connie Zhu (2.9m) took the bronze.

SIS’ second gold medal was claimed by Kaylen Taflinger as she led the girls 12U age group by leaping a distance of 3.52m. Garapan Elementary School’s Athitaya Sawikan (3.37m) settled for silver while GES’ Erin Phair (3.29m) received the bronze.

In the boys division, Koblerville and Kagman elementary schools earned podium finishes in the long jump event.

KOB’s Patrick Mansfield won gold with a distance of 3.92 meters in the boys 9U age group, followed by GES’ Adrian Mercado (3.71m), who took silver, and Mount Carmel School’s Thomas Flores (3.59m), who earned bronze.

KAG’s Roque Naputi led the 12U age group with a gold-winning distance of 4.19 meters, followed closely by teammate Daviray Indalecio (4.18m), who took silver, and GES’ Yubo Lin (3.80m), who secured the bronze.

San Vicente Elementary School also shared the spotlight as they earned two gold medals in the boys 9U and 12U age groups of the softball throw event.

In the 9U age group, SVES’ Keoki Rios claimed the gold with a distance of 30.99 meters, followed by Tinian’s Treyawn Barcinas (29.04m), who took silver, and KOB’s Patrick Mansfield (28.59m), who brought home the bronze.

In the 12U age group, SVES’ Carlos Rivera Jr. bagged the gold with a distance of 41.26 meters, followed by KAG’s Roque Naputi (39.08m), who claimed silver, and KAG’s Deion Cruz (36.41m), who took bronze.

In the girls’ division, the 9U age group was led by TIN’s Joaquina Aldan, who recorded a distance of 23.88 meters to claim the gold, followed by GES’ Saige Togawa (21.68m) for silver and GES’ Kerlisa Esefou (21.26m) for bronze. In the 12U age group, KOB’s Baylyn Mansfield won the gold with a distance of 35.31 meters, followed by KOB’s Ivory Duenas (30.78m) for silver and TIN’s Anita Moses (29.74m) for bronze.

The results for the sprints, long-distance races, and relay events will be featured in upcoming editions of Variety.
