Slashers surprises Nationals

After getting back to back three points by Jojo Arrevalo and Eric Basco that turned things around for the Slashers, Senandre put the icing on the cake as he was able to sink five free throws to ensure a win after he was fouled by different players of the Nationals hoping to get back in the game. Marino and Basco led the pack for the Slashers with 21 and 18 for the win while Douglas and Jervees scored 18 and 20 on losing cause.

In other games, Surangel’s Arnold Undencimo and Deloy Pinggot shot for 25 points a piece and Reggie De Guzman dropped in 23 markers for the Surangel as they brought the Choppers donw to their knees with a score of 102 – 78 while Ilocandia – Bulls got 26 points from Jun Villena and 20 form Dennis Castro enough to hammer down on the Rams – Ballers with a final tally of 82 – 74.With the first round of the 2009 Filipino Basketball League almost done, the updated team standings are as follows; Surangel 7 wins 1 loss; Rangers 6 wins 1 loss; Western Union 5 wins 2 losses; PIA-Slashers 5 wins 2 losses; Jaguar 4 wins 3 Losses; Ilocandia – Bulls 4 wins 3 losses; Nationals 4 wins 3 losses, Hanpa-Cardinals 1 win 7 losses; PRA – Choppers 1 win 7 losses.

Four matches are played every Sunday afternoon in which the first game starts at exactly 11:00 p.m. The 2009 Filipino Basketball League is operated and supervised by the Palau Basketball Federation and sponsored by PITI, CTSI-Logistics, J.Trading/ATT, Surangel and Sons, Ilocandia Association, Ilonggo Association, and Western Union.
