With a total of 836 pin falls, Talavera topped second place winner Raymond Zapanta by a mere three pins. Talavera recorded an average of 209 pin falls out of his four games last Monday. He trailed Richard Leong in game one by 36 pins and fell short against Zapanta in game two by 30 – eventually, Talavera racked up his winning set in the third game with 238 pin falls.
In the women’s division, there was no doubt that Gina Sablan would dominate the top spot in her group with 753 pin falls from Sunday night. Sablan averaged to 188.25 pins per game, collecting her highest score from game four with 224 pin falls. Like last month, Ron Cal was pushed out once again into second place, where Cal knocked down 714 pins with an average of 178.5 per game. Sablan had a decent start in her first two games, knocking out 166 pins in game one and 161 in game two. Sablan totaled her pin falls to 426 in games three and four, which played a vital role in the tournament rankings.
Following Cal in the standings was August’s Queen of the Lanes Gloria Omechelang with 690 pin falls and an average of 172.5.
While Talavera and Zapanta owned the top two positions in the men’s division, Raul Dumapit fought his way into third place with 817 pin falls and an average of 204.25. Dumapit had a good start in game one last Sunday, beating Talavera and Zapanta’s scores with 225 pin falls.
Cash prizes were awarded to the top three individuals from both the men and women’s divisions. As King of the Lanes, Talavera received $90, while Zapanta received $50 and Dumapit received $35. September’s Queen of the Lanes Gina Sablan was awarded $75, with second place winner Ron Cal receiving $40 and Omechelang earning $30.
Mckenzie is Prince of the Lanes
Marion Mckenzie defeated MJ Aldan for the top spot of September’s Prince/Princess of the Lanes Tournament at Saipan Bowling Center last Sunday, with Mckenzie dominating Aldan by a hundred pin falls.
Mckenzie won his title after topping his opponents in all four games, totaling his pin count to 770, with an average of 192.5. He started strong at game one, knocking down 210 pins and finished with 188 pin falls in game four.
Aldan followed Mckenzie with the second highest scores in the game, earning 669 pin falls with an average of 167.25. Leeanne Yarobwemal came in third place with 632 pin falls, averaging at 158 pins per game. Donald Hockett won fourth place at a total of 526 pin falls.
Mckenzie proved that he can make a come back, after losing to Aldan in last month’s Prince/Princess of the Lanes Tournament.
As first place winner, Mckenzie was awarded $20. Aldan received $15 while Yarobwemal received $10 and Hockett received $5.
