Talavera, Williams top SBA May Masters

Tony Verdaguer and John Epawa were the champions in doubles while Raul Dumapit won the title in singles in men’s division.

Ron Cal and Gigi Zapanta were women’s division champions in doubles and Gloria Omechelang, in singles.

Simon Manacop, Tony Verdaguer and Alex Castro bested other teams in men’s division team category while the combination of Dianne Camacho, Carrie Camacho, Emi Williams and Gloria Omechelang dominated the women’s division.

Talavera almost consistently played well in 12 games balling a total of 2, 656 pin falls. His lowest game was No. 11 where he was halfway to the bottom with 165 pin falls against Rusty Musca’s 290.

His eighth strong games however, handed him about 400 pin falls advantage over Raul Dumapit who garnered 2,571 pin falls.

Settling for third was Simon Manacop who eked out 2,447 pin falls.

Talavera was $800 richer; Dumapit $400 and Manacop, $200.

In women’s division, Emi Williams struggled in the first three games before leading her 14 competitors in Game 4 with 214 pin falls. She went second in Game 10 with 192 pin falls, then did not look back to win the championship with a total of 2,187 pin falls. She brought home the $300 first prize.

Yho Villavicencio placed second with a total of 2,098 pin falls to win $180 and Diane Camacho settled for third with 2,071 pin falls and brought home $100.

Dumapit eked out 663 pin falls in three games to win the championship singles and while the tandem of Verdaguer and Epawa combined 1,270 pin falls to win the doubles.

With Alex Castro and Paul Pangelinan, Manacop and Verdaguer also led the winning team with 2,381 pin falls.

Omechelang topped the women’s singles with 587 pin falls while the team up of Gigi Zapanta and Cal Ron topped the doubles with 1,116.

The team of Diane, Carrie Camacho and Omechelang totaled 2,049 to win the team category.
