Tinian, Rota cagers urged to join Masters

MBFNMI board chairman Ray Lizama said that as long as the players are 35 and up, those from Tinian and Rota may also take part in the new beginning of the Masters basketball by joining, not only the upcoming league but the group of officers as well.

While regularly holding their own hoops events in different age brackets on the island, Tinian basketball teams never missed the leagues on Saipan.

Lizama is confident that Tinian and Rota can complete a line up of basketball enthusiasts for the Masters.

Being a CNMI-wide organization, Lizama said they also want to people from the two islands to be involved in the Masters.

The MBFNMI plans to flex its muscle by holding pick up games in the next few couple of months and currently seeking commissioners for the league.

Newly elected board and officers are set to meet on Thursday at the Gilbert C. Ada Gym conference room at 5:30 p.m., to finalize the plan for the Masters Basketball league.

Those who are interested to join the Masters are invited to attend the meeting.
