TAOTAO Mona kicked off the 2024 Budweiser Belau Amateur Softball Association Open League with a bang by beating the AB Team, 10-3, at the Dandan baseball field on Sunday.
The action started in the bottom of the first inning after AB Team was met with three consecutive outs. On offense, Taotao Mona hit a single which then turned into a scored run brought in by Robert Tudela for an RBI single.
Two more runs followed as Stan Aldan capitalized with a single which led to the safe returns of Eric Cabrera and Robert Tudela for 2 RBIs as well a 3-0 lead.

The AB Team then got on the board with a single run while holding their ground defensively with no runs slipping through to close the gap after two innings, 1-3.
However, they were silenced in the top of the third while Taotao Mona’s Franklin Lizama and Brandon Lieto kept the fuel burning with offensive contributions that brought in three runs to extend the gap, 6-1.
As the game progressed, the lead grew further out of reach as Taotao Mona squeezed in two runs in the fourth inning and two more in the sixth.
But the AB Team kept their heads up, and in the top of the seventh and final inning, Bobby Castro’s single turned into 2 RBIs. Taotao Mona then reacted accordingly as their pitcher, Henry Reyes, remained crafty from the mound, outing the next two batters to secure his team’s first win of the season, 10-3.
