AFTER losing two games, Unity Trade got out of the slump with a win against Johnny’s Bar & Grill, 68-53, in a make-up game of the Pacific Saipan Promo Invitational Basketball League 2023 on Wednesday at the Gualo Rai basketball court,
Unity Trade’s win/loss record is now 2-5.
Unity Trade found their groove early with point guard Dhan Mateo orchestrating the offensive run with four points while feeding Bry Rejano and Vinz Rodriguez with five and four points, respectively, for a first-quarter lead, 15-9.
Their lead only grew larger in the second canto as Jonny’s Bar & Grill could score six points only while Unity Trade’s Paul Quizon took over the spotlight with six points with teammates Mateo and Rejano also delivering buckets to make it 36-15.
In the third period, Johnny’s Bar & Grill’s Rick Brien found his stroke and converted seven points with teammates Bryan Lontoc and Albert Agustin joining the scoring onslaught to cut the lead, 36-48.
But in the fourth and final quarter, Unity Trade’s Quizon returned to light up the scoreboard with 12 points — including two triples — while Rodriguez and Rey Culala cleaned up the mess from within the perimeter to secure the win, 68-53.
