Veteran ref to hold hoops clinic

Arnold Mesa a former official of NMI referees’ group said he will launch the Youth Sports Basketball Clinic that will focus on prevention of “zero tolerance violence” in the game.

It will start mid next month, with the exact date to be announced later.

Once the participants complete the clinic, Mesa said there will be less complaints and fighting in the court.

The clinic, he said will include sharing of his own experience to give the young players a glimpse of what a “brighter game” means.

Aside from promoting best basketball games and sportsmanship, the clinic will also let the participants know how important it is to keep away from smoking, alcohol drinking and drugs when you are into sports.

“Being good is not enough, but staying good is the one,” Mesa said.

Mesa who had just played with Guam’s Masters’ basketball team in the World Masters Olympics in Sydney, Australia last month said his passion for basketball drives him to keep sharing his own knowledge to the youths.
