The Voyagers, who started fighting for the top spot two weeks ago, started well against the Palaus, with Rolly Villanueva taking out Mei Rengiil in the first singles match. The Palaus took revenge when Arnel Orbita and John Mongami defeated RJ Mascarinas and Jojo Talibong in the next couple singles rounds. The Voyagers ultimately ruled the night, taking out the team of Orbita and Rengiil in their final 8-ball doubles match.
Steadily rising in the ranks are the Utopia NTT Docomo Hustlers, who trail the Voyagers by one point in the Agingan Division. They swept the USSP Turtles in a perfect 7-0 game last Tuesday. Turtle’s Nizer Masayos and Bill Kaipat had a chance to redeem their team, but lost in their tiebreaker games during the singles round. Hustler’s Jerry Soriano, Erwin Gomez, and Rowel Mariano returned home with two wins in their pockets after dominating in both the singles and doubles rounds.
With a 26W-23L record, the Jonny’s Home Boyz jumped into third place after having a close game with the D’Pirate Who-Oahs at Jonny’s Bar and Grill. Home Boyz’ Nolan Cultura drew first blood in his singles match against Joe Villagomez. After beating Juancho Mendoza, Who-Oah’s Joey Cruz moved on into the doubles round, crushing the team of Primo Ferrera and Mendoza with partner Ray Takai. The Home Boyz had the last laugh when Nolan Cultura and Mario Diola won their second doubles game.
The IT&E Incredibles were pushed to the bottom of the Agingan Division after gaining three wins against the Wild Bills Shark Attacks. Nong Detdong, Jerry, and Patrick Taitano took the Shark Attacks on a three-win spree, but were stopped in their fourth singles match by Incredibles’ Erick Caisip. The Shark Attacks rank seventh overall with 24 wins, trailing the Fotten Palaus in the Obyan Division.
Also included in the league are the VFW ToroKeyRees and D’Pirates Team Pirates, who played their game at the D’Pirates Sports Bar and Grill. The ToroKeyRees took the most victories after winning their first four singles matches. The Team Pirates turned the tables around when Dave Maratita defeated ToroKeyRee’s Jimmy Wang.
Franklin Palacios still holds the current ‘most 8-ball on break title,’ as well as Jerry Soriano, who has the most ‘run the racks.’
