Wabol, Taylor, Manibusan lead Pacific Games qualifiers

The NMI will send at least five golfers in the Pacific Games that will be held in Noumea, New Caledonia in 2011.

Over the past four months, NMI golfers have been playing qualifying tournaments to secure slots in the said off-island event.

Wabol who completed four rounds topped two consecutive qualifiers.

Averaging second is Jeff Taylor who had 77.

Retired Judge Edward Manibusan who topped the first qualifying round last March with a net of 69, went third with an average of 77.5.

Nick Sablan placed fourth with 78.3 net and Tars Olopai the winner of the second qualifier averages 79.5 for the fifth place.

The other qualifying tournament participants are Adam Hardwicke who had an average of 80; Jojie Tagutchi also averages 80; Tony Satur 80.5; Steve Jang, 83.25; Jesse Seman 83.5; Steve Balakrishna 84.75; Ralph Yumul, 85; Jung Teack 88, Jordon Kosam 88; Carl Hocog 91; Joe Saures 91.5; Joe Hocog 100.

The golfers still have the chance to hit the top five in the fifth qualifying tournament that will be held at the Laolao Bay Golf Resort’s East Course. Like the fourth qualifier, golfers will make the fairway shot from the blue tee.

The initial date will either on July 10 or July 17 defending on the availability of the tee. The final date will be announced later.
