Women’s bowling group to open next tourney for youth

Sue Ellis, the group’s president said any youth on the island who are interested to join may contact her at 287-7469 and association secretary, Lucy Deleon Guerrero at 236-9830.

She said there was one new team that came forward to participate in the league that will open at 10 a.m., on Saturday at the Saipan Bowling Center in San Jose.

The Saipan Women’s Thursday Night Bowling Association started the first season of its youth tournament in November 2007 to introduce bowling to the island’s young sports enthusiasts.

In the first bowling tournament that ran in 24 weeks, the youth teams shared games with women teams.

The youth tournament became exclusively for younger players when its second season started last May, right after the awards presentation for the first season where only two teams of youth played.

Five teams of youth 12 to 17 years old participated in the tournament wherein Butter Fingers composed of Zack Cruz, Bret Cabrera, Daylinne Joseph and Jeremy Williams won the first place award.
