Alex Limes scored eight points including the running jump shot in the last minute of the game to beat Oleai Elementary School.
Jeff Lizama went 2 for 4 and scored a couple of easy two-pointers as he and Nakashima Nakashima who scored four points, helped Limes came from behind in the second quarter.
With Brylan Floresca firing from the perimeter, Oleai took the lead in the first quarter then stretched it in the half break shoot out.
Limes and Lizama rallied in the second half to tie the game then, never looked back to win the game, 20-14.
Young cagers of San Vicente Elementary School settled for third place after they defeated their opponents from Gregorio T. Camacho Elementary School.
The three other schools that participated in the one-day tournament are Kagman Elementary School, Tanapag Elementary School and Koblerville Elementary School.
Tournament organizer, Sam Joyner said the purpose of the program is to assist in the mission of developing student athletes into future leaders through the basketball program.
The athletic program teaches some of life’s most important lessons to our students: sportsmanship, dedication, teamwork, respect for others, and respect for themselves.
Joyner thanks you the parents, the PTA, the participating schools, score keepers, referees, and all who contribute to making our interscholastic program a success.
