Lai, whose passion for golf made him quit school nearly broke his own record if not to Saipan Golfers Association champion, Joe Demapan who got the lowest net yesterday followed by new member, JJ Atalig.
Shooting 45 and 40 in the front and back nines respectively, the 20-handicapper who came from Jilin, China finished 13 strokes over par 85 and got the lowest net of 65 to top the qualifying game.
Demapan fired 2-over par 38 in the front nine and struggled a bit in the back nine with 5-over par 41 eked out a net of 66.
Lai tied with Gus Camacho but captured the third place in score card playoff.
Lai also shot closest to the pin in Hole Number 7 while RGA 2008 champion, Jess Wabol made it into the Hole Number 14.
RGA welcomes new members, JJ Atalig, Jesse Seman, Jin Kim, Ben Bae, Carl Hocog, Joe Limes and Vince Attao.
