The Saipan Bowling Association had the door of the King of the Lanes tournament wide open for the 2009 Prince of the Lanes.
Zapanta who also dominated last year’s monthly tournaments missing only the November roll-off due to sore throat did not really look so young when he had his debut in the men’s division last Tuesday.
Although he faced new and a wide range of opponents he knew he was playing just the same game.
He bested quite a good number of opponents in Games 1 and 2 and fell behind only in Games 3 and 4 to finish with a total of 690 pinfalls.
SBA treasurer, Ross Zapanta said it was Raphael’s decision to move to the men’s league so he can prove himself more. Besides, Ross said, the young bowler’s level of play already makes him competitive enough to vie for King of the Lanes monthly title this year.
Zapanta who bested five other young bowlers in the 2009 Prince/Princess of the Lanes last Jan. 17, is now the youngest bowler in the SBA men’s division.
