Lorraine Babauta wins women’s golf tourney

LORRAINE Babauta won the CNMI Women’s Golf Association’s Ace of the Month Tournament on Saturday at Laolao Bay Golf & Resort.

The association vice president had a rough start, putting up six strokes each on the first three holes. But she managed to improve her precision, sinking a few pars to end the front nine with a gross of 44.

Babauta found her stroke on the back nine as she again clinched a gross score of 44 for a total score of 88. With a handicap of 16, her net score was 72, good enough for the Ace title.

In second place was Mio Kim. She struggled on the front nine ending with a gross of 46 but refined her swing on the back nine with a score of 43 for a gross total of 89. With a 16 handicap, her net score was 73, just a point behind the tournament winner.

For her part, Eun Ae Tang did well on the front nine, scoring a gross of 43, but she struggled on the back nine with a score of 49 for a gross total of 92. With a 19 handicap, her net total was 73 which gave her third place.
