THE Rendezvous Mafia made sure their presence was known in the “A” Division of the SEDA Bud Light Dart League by edging top ranking Tambayan Distorted, 9-8, on Monday at Tambayan Bar.
Distorted found their groove right from the start with Garnett Martin, Derek Ayuyu and Elton Santos bagging a 3-1 run in the opening Singles Regular Cricket match while team mates Jeremy Lizama, Tanner Maratita and Dave Terlaje won their games in the Partners 701 match for a comfortable 5-1 lead.
But the Mafia returned to the one-on-one scene with all guns blazing as Juliano “Show Me” Matsutaro, Joker Camacho, Carlos “Corona” Cervania and Joe Kumoi notched a four-win sweep in the Singles Half-It match to even the score, 5-5.
Both teams split the next two matches to remain in a deadlock.
It all came down to the Team 1101 game, and in the end, the Mafia’s team chemistry outshined Distorted to win the match 9-8.
Distorted, however, remains the overall top team with 36 wins and 15 losses. Mafia is third with 25 wins and 26 losses.
In other matches
The Pepoys 101 Proofers slipped past the 6JMS Thunder Darts, 9-8, to remain in overall second place with 29 wins and 22 losses.
It was a seesaw battle as the 101 Proofers seized the lead with a 3-1 start thanks to Nestor Abing, Luis Ramos and Rolly Bermiso who claimed three of the four rounds in the opening Singles Regular Cricket match.
Although the Proofers held their ground by splitting the following match, the Thunder Darts retaliated with a 3-1 run in the Singles Half-It match as Shane Pangelinan, June “Viper” Orencia, and Jared Ayuyu shared the spotlight to tie the score, 5-5.
The Thunder Darts failed to maintain efficiency which allowed the 101 Proofers to triumph in the Singles 501 Double In/Double Out match.
Even though the Thunder Darts claimed the final Team 1101 match, they still fell short and had to settle for defeat, 8-9.
Jonny’s Ridin Darrty also tasted victory by taking down Jonny’s Man Amigos while the 6JMS Drunken Dragon bested the Tambayan Tribal Slashers, 11-6.
