Man Amigos bag debut win in BASA Softball League

MAN Amigos defeated Peleliu, 21-7, in the men’s division of the 2022 Belau Amateur Softball Association or BASA Softball League at the Dandan baseball field on Sunday.

Against the team that beat them in last year’s best-of-three championship series, Man Amigos found their groove right from the start as they drew first blood in the opening inning.

First at bat was James who connected to deep left field for a single. Although Peleliu struck out Man Amigo’s Mario for the first out, Erick scored the first homerun of the day while bringing home James for the RBI.

Another run was added with Peter hitting his team’s second consecutive homer for a 3-0 lead.

In the bottom of the first inning, Peleliu’s John took advantage of the opposing team’s errors and reached home safely for one run.

In the second inning, however, Man Amigos’ Darren, Jess and Eric each earned an RBI while Mario added the fourth run due to an error to stretch the gap, 7-1.

Man Amigos’ biggest offensive highlight came in the third inning with 10 more runs.

Peleliu, however, fought back and answered with five runs. But in the next five innings,  Peleliu could score only one more run while  Man Amigos notched four for a comfortable 21-7 victory.

Hagu Lamun vs Ngaroad/Red Men

Hagu Lamun joined the winner’s circle by edging Ngaroad/Red Men, 6-5.

The Red Men then played superb defense while adding three more runs to extend their lead 5-1.

But Hagu Lamun were relentless and in the top of the fourth inning, after the Red Men committed several errors, Hagu Lamun’s Ben and Mitch  stole home while Rod was brought in by Lawrence for the RBI to cut the lead 4-5.

For the next two innings, Hagu Lamun defended well, allowing only two  hits while adding two runs of their own to seize the lead and score an upset victory, 6-5.
