MARIANO Fajardo claimed the Saipan Golf Association’s June Ace of the Month title on Sunday, July 17, at the Coral Ocean Resort golf course.
Fajardo went up against 10 other players and performed steadily throughout the tournament.
On the front nine, he shot a gross of 46. He managed to maintain his focus on the back nine by again shooting a gross of 46 for a combined gross total of 92. With a 27 handicap, his net score was 65 which put him at the very top of the list.
Just a stroke behind in second place was Tony Deleon Guerrero who scored a gross of 43 on the front and back nines for a gross total of 86. With a 20 handicap, his net score was 66.
The battle for third place was between Das Krishnan and Rick Kautz.
Thanks to his consistency, Krishnan edged Kautz by shooting a gross of 40 on both ends for a total of 80. With a 10 handicap, his net score was 70.
Kautz shot 39 on the front but fell behind on the back nine with a gross of 43 for a total score of 82. His 12 handicap gave him a net score of 70, but Krishnan outpointed him in the scorecard playoff.
In the Closest to the Pin challenge, Fajardo led the list on hole #3; Nick Sablan ruled on hole #7; Jung Eun Teack triumphed on hole #12; and Ed Manibusan was numero uno on hole #14.
The Longest Drive was claimed by Tony Benavente on holes #6 and #18.
Mariano now joins the list of the 2022 SGA Aces of the Month: Edward C. Sablan (January), Frances M. Sablan (February), Nick C. Sablan (March), Larry I. Deleon Guerrero (April) and Alex Tudela (May).
The SGA 2022 July Ace of the Month Tournament will be held on July 31, 2022, Sunday, at LaoLao Bay Golf & Resort. Tee time is at 9 a.m. while show time is at 8:30 a.m.
