Matansa, Kanoa draw soccer match

THE Matansa Football Club prevented a Kanoa Football Club victory in the Summer 2021 Youth League,  thanks to a second half rally led by MFC’s Anton Megino whose heroics resulted in a 2-2 draw.

In their U12 coed division game  at the NMI Soccer Training Center on Saturday, Kanoa was more aggressive team in the opening half. After several attempts, Kanoa’s Hope McQuay finally broke through MFC’s line of defense, slipping through two defenders to give her team a 1-0 lead.

But in the second half, Matansa’s Anton Megino connected a shot at the 25th minute mark to even the score 1-1.

Kanoa then quickly regained a one point advantage thanks to Jayson Tagabuel.

With less than 10 minutes left in the game, Kanoa appeared headed to victory.

However, MFC’s Megino saw a crack in the Kanoa defensive wall and sank the much needed goal to even the score once again, 2-2.

Both teams then tried their best to snag the game-winning shot, but time ran out and the result was a draw.

Paire vs Shirley’s

As for the Paire Football Club, it remains the leader in the team standings after scoring its third win when it edged Shirley’s Football Club 2-1 on Saturday.

It was a fairly even match but Paire’s goal delivered by Rodney Tomei at the 18th minute mark turned out to be the deciding factor.

In the second half, Tomei added another goal to widen his team’s lead, but Shirley’s did not give up, and its players finally broke the silence at the 48th minute mark with a goal by Bennet Haro.

However, with not enough time left for Shirley’s to equalize, Paire claimed victory, 2-1.

MP vs TanHoldings

Joining the winner’s circle was the MP United Football Club which dominated the TanHoldings Football Club 7-0.

MP’s Taiga Namai-Scoggins led the run with two goals while Landon Jordan, Moshe Sikkel, Landon Pudney, Richard Zhao and Riku Takahashi each contributed a  goal.
