MCDONALD’S 2nd Annual Golf Classic will start at 7 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 3, 2022 at the LaoLao Bay Golf and Resort east course.
The fundraising event is organized by the Jose and Ruri Ayuyu Foundation Inc. which will donate the net proceeds to Make-A-Wish Foundation, Karidat, Salvation Army and the Ronald McDonald House Charities.
Cash prizes will be awarded to the top three golfers in each flight from championship to seniors. Luxury vehicles from Atkins Kroll, Triple J Motors, Joeten Motors and cash prize from Pacifica Insurance also await players who will hit a hole-in-one at the designated holes. The prizes amount to a total of over $200,000.
On Tuesday night, McDonald’s hosted a cocktail reception for the tournament sponsors at the Ayuyu residence in San Vicente.
Representatives of Atkins Kroll, Triple J Motors, Joeten Motors, Pacific Insurance and the other premiere sponsors received certificates of appreciation from McDonald’s of Guam and Saipan president and chief executive officer Jose Ayuyu and McDonald’s Saipan owner/operator Marcia “Ruri” Ayuyu.
The gold sponsors of the event are Bank of Guam, Bank of Saipan, Marpac Inc., StayWell, KSPN-2, Pacific Daily News and Coca-Cola.
The silver sponsors are Marianas Variety, Tan Holdings, Tan Siu Lin Foundation, MACS, United Airlines, IT&E, Mobil Oil Marianas, Bridge Capital, Matson, Power 99, Bank of Hawaii, Ada’s Trust and Guahan Waste Control.
The bronze sponsors are WESTCO, MegaByte, Yaong Corporation, Herman’s Modern Bakery, Chong’s Corporation, Saipan Computer Services, Docomo Pacific, Sanford Technology Group and RNV Constructions.
“Giving back to the community, especially to families in need, will always be one of our top priorities,” Jose Ayuyu said.
Marcia Ayuyu, for her part, thanked Atkins Kroll, Triple J Motors, Joeten Motors, Pacific Insurance and the other premiere sponsors for their support.
“I also want to again thank all our sponsors, volunteers, staff, business community members and all the golfers who have registered for making this year’s Golf Classic more exciting and fun for a good cause,” Marcia Ayuyu said.
The golf event’s committee chairman, Ben Babauta, said there were already 144 golfers who had registered as of Tuesday.
As members of the business community, he said, “we give back to those who need help, and more so during the holidays which means a lot to them.”
