NMI aquathlon team wins bronze on Rota

THE NMI’s aquathlon team consisting of Heather Brook, Kathy Ruszala, Isaiah Aleksenko and Leo Wania bagged the bronze medal in the 2022 Pacific Mini Games on Rota last Wednesday. New Caledonia (2:20:15) won the gold while Tahiti (2:29:57) took home the silver medal.

The NMI’s Heather Brook, Kathy Ruszala, Leo Wania and Isaiah Aleksenko won the bronze in the team aquathlon event of the 2022 Pacific Mini Games Triathlon on Rota.

The NMI athletes worked together for a combined time of 02:59:42 to win the home team’s only medal in triathlon.

Isaiah Aleksenko clocked 34:15 to place fourth overall in the men’s division of the aquathlon event. His first run was timed at 09:18 followed by a swimming time of 13:46 and a second run time of 10:32.

Heather Brook clocked 43:01, placing fifth overall in the women’s division. Her first run time was 10:01 while her swimming time was 21:22 and her second run time was 11:01.

 Leo Wania clocked 48:46 and placed ninth overall. His first run time was 11:34, followed by a swimming time of 22:56 and a second run time of 13:21.

Kathy Ruszala clocked 53:40 and placed 11th overall. Her first run  time was 12:18 followed by a swimming time of 25:48 and a second run time of 14:37.
