La Hunn Lam
THE NMI’S La Hunn Lam has secured a spot in the Boys Singles 14 event finals of the 2023 Pacific Oceania Junior Championships after defeating Tahiti’s Toanui Lee Tham in the semifinals on Thursday in Lautoka, Fiji.
Lam put on a stellar performance as he did not allow Tham to catch a breather. In the first set, Lam’s experience in Wimbledon seemed to have paid off as he outshined his opponent, 6-2.
Although Lam had a few chinks in his armor, Tham remained behind, winning two games only before the NMI player secured the second set with a similar output, 6-2, to advance to the finals.
The NMI’s Nasson Wessel had a chance to face his teammate in the finals, but he lost to Guam’s Junhyuk Seo, 2-6, 2-6 in their semifinal match.
La Hunn Lam will face Junhyuk Seo in the finals while Nasson Wessel will go head-to-head with Toanui Lee Tham.
