Paire powers past Kanoa in soccer league

PAIRE Football Club earned its fifth win on Sunday after routing Kanoa Football Club 5-0 at the NMI Soccer Training Center.

The first 10 minutes of the Marianas Soccer League game was filled with back-and-forth action. But as soon as Paire’s players were all warmed up, they went for the kill.

Philip Megino was the first to break the silence, connecting the opening goal at the 14th minute mark.

Kanoa’s players tried to stop the bleeding but could only stand their ground for a brief moment before Paire resumed their assault led by Eric Barajas who scored at the 29th and 36th minute marks.

This was followed by team-mate Jireh Yobech’s goal in the 41st minute to give Paire a commanding 4-0 lead.

No matter what Kanoa did, they just could not get through Paire’s line of defense.

Paire managed to slip in one more goal at the 51st minute mark courtesy of Travis Spaeth to end Kanoa’s misery, 5-0.

Kanoa vs Old B Bank

Before playing against Paire on Sunday, Kanoa faced the Old B Bank on Thursday last week.

After 20 minutes of exchanges, Kanoa finally gained the upper-hand and never looked back. It started with Anthony Bergancia slipping in a goal at the 24th minute mark while team-mate Andruw Omelau delivered another goal in the 42nd minute to give Kanoa a 2-0 lead.

At the start of  the second half, Old B Bank defended well. But as soon as they lowered their guard, Kanoa launched a blistering attack.

Ruselle Zapanta acted as the spark plug by scoring at the 72nd minute mark followed by Ruben Guerrero three minutes later and by Leland Deleon Guerrero at the 87th minute mark en route to a convincing 5-0 victory.
