PSS-McDonald’s honors MVPs in athletics championship

THE Most Valuable Players of the recently concluded 2020-2021 Public School System-McDonald’s All School Athletics Qualifiers and Championship were honored for their hard work and dedication on Tuesday at the Oleai Sports Complex.

In the U9 age group, the MVPs were Saipan International School’s Beatrice Gross and Jude Rayphand.

Gross received gold medals in the 100M, 200M, Long Jump, 4x400M Relay events, silver in the Mixed Medley Relay and a bronze in the Softball Throw.

Rayphand also bagged six medals: two golds in the 400M and 800M, three silvers in the 100M, 4×400 Relay, Mixed Medley Relay, and a bronze in the 200M.

Both athletes led the U9 age group with 54 points each.

In the U12 age group, Tinian’s Ysebella Lenteja, Brilliant Star School’s Moshe Sikkel and Aiden Camacho were the MVPs.

Lenteja led the girls division with gold medals in the 60M, 100M, 200M and 4x100M Relay, silver in the Long Jump, and Bronze in the Mixed Medley Relay for a total of 54 points.

In the boys division, Moshe Sikkel earned seven gold medals (200M, 400M, 800M, 1500M, 4x100M, 4x400M, Mixed Medley Relay) to earn 70 points. Camacho shared the spotlight also with seven gold medals (60M, 100M, Long Jump, Softball Throw, 4x100M, 4x400M, Mixed Medley Relay) and 70 points.

In the U14 age group, Mount Carmel School’s Andrei Kaithlyn Chavez and Grace Christian Academy’s Jasper Hall were the MVPs.

Chavez won gold medals in the 200M, 400M, 800M, 1500M and 3000M, silvers in the 4x100M Relay and 4x400M Relay, and placed fourth in the Mixed Medley Relay for four points on top of her 60-point contribution.

Hall earned gold medals in the 200M, Long Jump, 4x100M, and silvers in the 100M and 400M.

Lastly, in the U18 group, Saipan International School’s Tiana Cabrera and Agape Christian School’s Eason Tang were the best of the best.

Cabrera led the girls division with two golds in the 1500M and 3000M, two silvers in the 400M and 800M and two bronzes in the 4x400M Relay and Mixed Medley Relay for a total of 48 points.

Tang won gold in the 100M, 200M, 400M and 4x100M Relay to secure 50 points.
