CARTFIELD Sablan and Maribel Igitol were named the king and queen of homeruns after topping their respective divisions in the Budweiser Belau Amateur Softball Association Homerun Derby on Sunday at the Dandan baseball field.
Sablan and Ton Pangelinan hit three homers each, forcing a second round to determine the champion.
In their second bout, Pangelinan failed to send one out of the park while Sablan’s solo homerun clinched the men’s division homerun derby title.
Sablan went home with a Michelob Ultra 27oz anarchy softball bat and a half case of Michelob Ultra courtesy of Marpac.
Dominic Hideo, Darwin Masaharu and Audie Maratita tied for third with two homeruns each. But in the second round, only Hideo managed to blast one past the fence to secure overall third place.
In the ladies division, Maribel Igitol secured the title with a total of three homeruns while Heather Kladikm finished second with one homerun.
Igitol won a 26oz Michelob Ultra Anarchy softball bat and half a case of Michelob Ultra courtesy of Marpac.
In the battle for third, Kianu Aldan, Kiana Camacho and Keyona Tudela failed to power through in the first round.
In the second round, they were all swinging but it was Kianu Aldan who reigned supreme as she recorded three homers to finish third overall.
For their part, Kiana Camacho made two homers while Keyona Tudela had one.
