SAN Antonio earned their second win in the women’s division of the 2022 Marianas Village Pride Basketball League by defeating San Vicente, 62-45, Tuesday at the TSL Sports Complex.
San Antonio made quick work of their opponents thanks to overwhelming teamwork. Mia Abuan ignited the run with the first five points while Aaleyah Fatialofa and Kaithlyn Chavez’s 10 and six points established double-digit control.
San Vicente’s Destiny Pangelinan tried to take matters into her own hands by scoring 14 points, but without any help from her team mates, they continued to trail as San Antonio’s Venice Enriquez delivered six straight points to put San Antonio ahead, 29-18.
In the second half, San Antonio remained in control as the back-and-forth work of Chavez and Fatialofa filled the scoreboard. Despite Pangelinan’s efforts, San Vicente failed to close the distance and had to settle for defeat, 45-62.
Dandan vs Garapan
On Monday, Dandan collected their fifth win by outshooting Garapan, 34-29.
It was a low-scoring game as defense highlighted the first half. Dandan’s Connie Camacho showcased her range with two triples but so did Garapan’s AJ Garon who also sank two three-pointers.
Garapan eventually took control in the final few minutes of the first half, 16-14.
However, Dandan fought back in the second half as Antonette Labausa found her stroke from beyond the arc as well as in the paint to score 12 points.
Team mates Camacho and Sylvina Simram contributed a couple more buckets to give Dandan a comfortable lead.
Madeleine Alegre and Mikayla Lopez tried to keep Garapan alive but they eventually have to wave the white flag, 29-34.
