SAN Jose earned their second win in the 2022 Marianas Village Pride Basketball League by outlasting San Vicente, 47-44,  Saturday at the TSL Sports Complex.

It was a fairly even first-half battle as several lead exchanges were made.

San Jose team’s chemistry was their biggest strength with Jenny Lee, Mary Kay Alferos and Werly Breakenridge leading the assault and scoring six points apiece.

San Vicente, for their part, relied on Destiny Pangelinan’s offensive consistency as she scored 19 points  while both teams ended the halftime in a 26-26 tie.

During the second half, San Jose focused on shutting down Pangelinan which greatly affected San Vicente’s production. Fortunately, the rest of her team filled in with Angellyn Roligat and Elicia Cabrera taking over the last five minutes of the game.

Despite San Vicente’s efforts,  the teamwork of San Jose continued to work in their favor as Irish Pagarao constantly attacked the rim while team mate Dianne Pablo and Alferos delivered the necessary buckets to seal the deal, 47-44.

Kagman vs San Antonio

On Sunday, Kagman triumphed over San Antonio, 39-35.

Kagman’s Kaia Travilla and Yasmeen Younis took the spotlight in the first half with Tarvilla finishing strong at the rim for 12 points while Younis scored six to give their team the lead, 18-11.

In the second half, San Antonio started to find their rhythm with Azrie Fatialofa in the frontline scoring eight points while team mates Kaithlyn Chavez and Mia Abuan cleaned up the mess from inside the paint.

However, Travilla went on another scoring spree, contributing 12 points to secure the win for Kagman, 39-35.
