One of the five players vying for the championship, Chung faced Elizabeth Culp in the semifinals.
Culp had to defeat Jeane Bracken in the quarterfinals, 6-3, 6-1.
Against Chung who was seeded into the semis, Culp had a few tricks up her sleeve with smart placements to boot.
However, as the game progressed, Chung started to take control and held on long enough to win the first set, 6-2.
The second set was no different as Chung continued to stay on guard, prolonging each exchange and forcing Culp to commit errors. Culp managed to win a few games but could not match Chung’s output. Chung won, 6-2, and her next opponent will be the winner between Grace Choi and Hye Jin Elliot in the other semifinal match.
